DZ BANK advised Köster on its acquisition of Saint Gobain Brüggemann Holzbau GmbH

Brüggemann Holzbau GmbH, based in Neuenkirchen in the Münsterland region and majority-owned by the French building materials group Saint Gobain since the beginning of 2021, has established itself in recent years as a proven specialist in the production of high-quality timber buildings based on prefabricated 2D elements and 3D room modules. The company successfully implements turnkey projects primarily in the education and residential construction sectors as well as for the public sector, particularly in Northern and Western Germany. Its annual construction output amounts to around EUR 60 million.
The Köster Group, headquartered in Osnabrück, is a leading provider of building construction and civil engineering services throughout Germany and has been owned by the Köster family since its foundation in 1938. Its services range from individual planning to the turnkey construction of tailor-made buildings in the areas of work, living, and infrastructure. With more than 2,000 employees at 22 locations throughout Germany, the Köster Group realizes more than 150 projects per year and achieved a turnover of EUR 1.31 billion in 2024. The acquisition contributes to KÖSTER’s strategic goal of using ecological materials in even more projects in the future and significantly strengthens KÖSTER’s position in the growing prefabricated timber construction market. Positive synergies are to be achieved primarily through joint projects and thus the offering of serial, modular timber construction and turnkey construction from a single source.
