SpaMedica, the leading provider of ophthalmic services, announced on 17th April 2019 that it had completed the acquisition of The Chelmsford Hospital from Aspen Healthcare for an undisclosed consideration. The Chelmsford, based in Chelmsford, Essex, is a private day surgery hospital specialising in day case and minimally invasive treatment and surgery, supported by on-site MRI, x-ray and ultrasound diagnostic capabilities.
SpaMedica is a leading provider of ophthalmic services, including cataract surgery and macular degeneration treatment, to both NHS and private patients. Prior to the transaction, SpaMedica operated 10 specialist eye hospitals in the UK. The Chelmsford will be SpaMedica’s second hospital outside of the North of England.
The company is owned by CBPE Capital, the UK private equity fund. Smith Square Partners advised SpaMedica on the acquisition.
