Megapharm GmbH is a Germany-based company engaged in providing specialty wholesaling and logistics services for oncological and hematological products. Omnicare Pharma GmbH, the Germany-based company operating as a wholesalers of pharmaceutical medicines, has acquired Megapharm GmbH, the Germany-based company engaged in providing specialty wholesaling and logistics services for oncology products, from Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc., the listed US-based company engaged in pharmacy-led health and beauty retailing and pharmaceutical wholesaling, for an undisclosed consideration.
Megapharm reported a turnover of EUR 380m in 2014. Megapharm supplying over 200 pharmacies throughout Germany with product range of oncological and hematological products. The transaction will deepen the involvement of the combine company to residential areas in outpatient oncology and ensure the highest quality and security of supply for the Omnicare in areas of oncology services, services. With the acquisition Omnicare will be able to expand and develop community-based care for cancer patients. The acquisition of Mega Pharm will increase the security of supply for cancer patients in outpatient treatment.
Post transaction, Omnicare and Mega Pharm will initially continue to operate under its established name in the market. Prior in October 2008, Walgreens Boots Alliance had acquired 90% stake in Megapharm GmbH, for an undisclosed consideration.
